Vision Critical lands Asda shopper panel task

UK— Vision Critical is to take over the running of the Asda Pulse of the Nation panel from TNS in November, Research has learned.

The news comes as the retailer attempts to give its customers a greater say in what products appear on store shelves through the Chosen by You initiative.

Pulse of the Nation panelists will be invited to collaborate on the development of new products and to try them out before they go on general sale, said CEO Andy Bond in a speech last week.

Some 18,000 Asda shoppers have already signed up to the panel and the retailer has called for more to follow suit ahead of the launch of Chosen by You early next year.

TNS has run Pulse of the Nation since its inception 18 months ago, but responsibility for managing the panel will pass to Vision Critical next month.

It is the latest in a string of high-profile client wins for the online research specialist. Recently Vision Critical has worked with mobile phone retailer Phones4u on the launch of its online community, while Blackberry manufacturer Research In Motion has tapped the firm’s technology to build a panel of smartphone users.
