Twitter ad revenue doubles despite new user slowdown

US — Twitter saw a 97% increase in ad revenue in Q4 2014 compared to the same period in 2013, despite a slowdown in monthly user growth.

Ad revenue in the final quarter of 2014 reached $432m, according to Twitter’s CFO Anthony Noto in an earnings call. This was despite the site only attracting 4m new users during that quarter, bringing the total number of active monthly users to 288m.

Last month Twitter acquired Indian “missed call” business ZipDial, a move expected to boost its user numbers in coming months.
