Streaming service subscriptions rise in Q1 2022
The Establishment Survey, which helps Barb understand the characteristics of UK households to inform its daily television audiences reporting, found that 19.57 million UK households now subscribed to a SVOD channel.
This means 68.5% of UK households now subscribe to an SVOD service, up 500,000 from the fourth quarter of 2021.
The number of UK homes with two or more services stood at 13.2 million homes – 46.3% of households – up from 12.4 million homes in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Netflix was in 19.29 million households, up 3% from the previous quarter, while Amazon Prime Video was accessed by 13.35 million homes, 6% more than the fourth quarter of 2021.
Disney+ had a quarterly increase of 19% and was now subscribed to in 6.53 million homes, according to Barb.
Apple TV+, a new addition to Barb’s quarterly figures, was the fastest growing SVOD service with a 27% rise in the first quarter of 2022 to 1.57 million households subscribed.
Now TV was available in 2.13 million homes, up 4% from the previous quarter.
