Pamro conference goes ahead despite Ebola outbreak in Uganda
Pamro said that its team in Uganda had been in contact with “various medical organisations” in the country, who had assured them that the situation “is under control”.
The World Health Organisation and the USA Centres for Disease Control have also recommended that it it is not necessary to apply any travel or trade restrictions to the country.
Pamro warned members that Ebola an be transmitted by handling the body of someone who has died of the virus or handling infected chimpanzees, gorillas and forest antelopes. “We would recommend that it’s better not to do that,” Pamro said.
