UK – Polly Weitzman, general counsel at Ofcom, is leaving the media regulator.
Weitzman has led Ofcom’s legal group since 2004, providing legal advice for all policy areas within the organisation.
She will join digital infrastructure company CityFibre as its senior general counsel in January 2021, and has left Ofcom with immediate effect for gardening leave to ‘avoid any potential conflict of interest', Ofcom said.
Martin Ballantyne, currently legal director at Ofcom, has been appointed as interim general counsel.
Melanie Dawes, chief executive at Ofcom, said: “After 15 years with us, Polly understandably wants to explore fresh challenges. But she leaves with our warmest thanks for having led Ofcom’s legal team with distinction and for her impact on our wider work.”
