Nielsen pulls post-Sandy November ratings in New York

US — Nielsen has told clients that it will not release November television ratings data for the New York market because of disruption caused by Superstorm Sandy.

Some panel homes lost power while in others occupants had to be relocated because of extensive damage.

Nielsen said that data for some individual days would be available, providing that they passed the company’s statistical reporting guidelines.

The New York area is the largest media market in the US, accounting for almost 6.5% of the US population. Nielsen is also currently “evaluating” Local People Meter results for homes in Baltimore, Cleveland, Boston and Philadelphia in the wake of the storm.
