US — Audience measurer Nielsen and Syncbak have completed a two-week technical trial aimed at capturing and measuring TV viewing on mobile devices using the live-TV streaming provider’s technology.

In collaboration with broadcaster CBS, Nielsen conducted a tablet and mobile measurement test with four CBS-owned television stations in New York and Los Angeles; as a result, the trial found that broadcasters could measure online and mobile viewing on the Syncbak app.

“This test was an important step in our commitment to fully measuring television content on mobile and tablet platforms,” said Farshad Family, senior vice-president, local media product leadership at Nielsen. “When it comes to mobile streaming, Syncbak is an increasingly important player, so we are pleased to demonstrate to the industry that we can count and incorporate their viewing and add it to the existing television metrics.”
