UK – Retailer Marks & Spencer has appointed Matt McLellan as director of loyalty.

McLellan joins the company from Morrisons, where he was the chief customer officer. He will succeed Jade Sharpe, who has led loyalty at M&S since early 2025 and is leaving to launch a customer, loyalty and transformation consultancy.

Earlier in his career, McLellan spent 14 years at Dunnhumby in various leadership positions, including managing director of UK and Ireland, before becoming group customer propositions director at Dunnhumby owner Tesco, and later joining Asda.

McLellan will take up his new role at M&S at the start of 2027.

The M&S customer rewards programme, Sparks, allows customers to earn monetary rewards into a digital wallet. The company relaunched the scheme earlier this year to offer more personalisation, based on a set of new and updated AI and data capabilities.
