UK – The Market Research Society (MRS) has appointed Jonathan Hall, managing partner of Kantar’s sustainable transformation practice worldwide, to its main board.

Hall (pictured) takes up the board position made vacant by Parves Khan following her resignation prior to assuming a new role at European industry association Esomar.

MRS chief executive Jane Frost said: “While I’m sorry to be losing Parves from the board, I am absolutely delighted to be gaining  someone with Jonathan’s skills in sustainability and inclusion. The sustainability programme in particular is a major priority for MRS – it is a very complex area where Jonathan’s experience will be incredibly useful.”

Hall commented: “My focus at Kantar is to use client work as a lever for change for the economy, people and the planet. This is the type of impact and momentum I want to contribute to the MRS and its social and environmental goals – for the industry, for our clients and for society as a whole.”

Hall added that he wanted to “influence the shift towards organisations that understand the value in greater inclusiveness and diversity, as well as driving the environmental agenda in this time of climate crisis”.

He said: “We have the opportunity to harness the passion and energy of people in our industry, and to be on the edge of today’s most exciting, important work. Our collective impact can be amplified across our organisations and those of our clients, on to the products and services they bring to market.

“The market research industry has a huge sphere of influence, much bigger than the sum of our individual agencies. We need to do all we can to use it to shape a more just, sustainable society.

“With the Net Zero pledge, the MRS is a progressive voice in our industry – I look forward to contributing to our industry’s understanding of the impact we can have, and setting new standards for us to pursue.”
