More local TV broadcasters tap Rentrak for audience measurement

US— Rentrak has clinched two new clients in the shape of London Broadcasting Company and Journal Broadcast Group for its audience measurement service for local markets, StationView Essentials.

The deal with Texas-based London Broadcasting Company covers its ABC and NBC affiliate stations in the Beaumont, Port Arthur market while Journal Broadcast Group is sourcing viewing data for its Fox affiliate station WFTX in Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Naples, Florida.

Rentrak said that the deal with Journal Broadcast Group means that the three of the top five Southwest Florida TV stations now use its services and that “the agreement demonstrates a growing commitment among station groups and stations to have a new and different TV database currency”.

The addition of these new clients means that Rentrak now has 38 customers in 19 local markets, the firm said.

StationView Essentials uses return-path data from digital satellite and cable set-top boxes to track viewing habits across video-on-demand, digital video recorders, interactive and linear television platforms.
