Millennials now biggest US age group
According to the data, as of July 1 2014, there were 83.1m millennials — defined as being born between 1982 and 2000 — in the US. This represents more than a quarter of the nation’s population. The data also revealed that 44.2% of these came from a minority race or ethnic group.
Young Americans are even more diverse: 50.2% are defined as being part of a minority race or ethnic group.
The least diverse age group was the oldest: there are now 46.2m over 65s, of whom 21.7% are from a minority.
