Micro-location startup wins John Lewis’s first tech business incubator
As part of its prize, the startup has been awarded £100k in investment and the chance to trial its solution with John Lewis.
Localz uses Apple’s iBeacon technology, as well as WiFi, GPS, QR codes and near-field communication (NFC) to calculate a shopper’s precise location. This information can then be used to send content and offers to shopper’s phones. The technology can also be used to track assets, including time and temperature-sensitive items, and carry out mobile payments.
