Fields Healthcare will be run as a subsidiary of Medallia and will continue to be led by its president, Ken Fields.

Fields Healthcare is an approved vendor for the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys by US healthcare body Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

HCAHPS evaluates the experience of patients using validated tools and data collection protocols to help inform consumers, improve the quality of care and increase healthcare providers’ accountability.

Fields said that the acquisition would mean the company could “help even more healthcare providers improve the patient experience”.

The acquisition follows recent deals by Medallia to purchase digital experience analytics business Decibel this year for around $160m and video feedback platform LivingLens last year for $26m.

Julie Classen, director, regulatory and clinical programmes, at Medallia, said: “This significant milestone aligns with Medallia’s vision for holistically capturing patient feedback across the care continuum to drive improvements in care while satisfying important regulatory requirements.

“This synergy with Fields Healthcare Research will allow Medallia to rapidly accelerate our healthcare footprint, providing a more seamless solution for our customers to capture leading and lagging signals across their patients’ journey with real time insights.”
