Matthew Tibbles given CBS Interactive insight role

AUSTRALIA— Website publisher CBS Interactive Australia has appointed former News Digital Media insight chief Matthew Tibbles as its new research and insights manager.

In his new role he will be responsible for delivering site data and insight into the firm’s branded websites, which include CNET Australia, GameSpot AU, ZDNet Australia and BNET Australia. He is also tasked with identifying trends in the digital market and providing editorial teams with insight about website content.

At News Digital Media, the digital arm of News Limited, Tibbles held the role of strategic insights lead for Fox Interactive Media brands MySpace and IGN Entertainment.

CBS Interactive commercial director Jo Gaines said: “We’ve had our eye on Matt since working together on a recent industry-wide research project. When our research and insights role became available, he was naturally our first choice for the position… With Matt on board we will be able to expand research into better understanding our audience and in turn give them more of the content they want.”

  • Meanwhile at News Limited, Darren Stein has been appointed director of consumer insights. He joins from telecoms firm Optus where he held the role of general manager for insights, segmentation and planning. Marketing director Ed Smith said: “It is vital we know what our readers want, so we can excel at attracting new readers, retaining existing ones and servicing their needs across all of our distribution platforms. Stein is one of Australia’s leading experts in his field.”
