UK— Former YouGov executive Panos Manolopoulos has taken on a board role with rival online research agency Opinium to support the firm’s strategic and commercial development activities.

Manolopoulos has worked as a consultant since leaving YouGov a year ago. Formerly UK managing director, he moved to head up the pollster’s international partnerships strategy from August 2007 until it was abandoned in early 2009.

Besides YouGov, Manolopoulos has held senior roles at Lightspeed Research, TNS and GfK NOP.

His arrival at Opinium follows the recent appointment of a new managing director, James Endersby.

Manolopoulos said: “Opinium is a dynamic and innovative professional business, maturing into a strong competitor for full service and strategic client project work. I look forward to working with the talented management team to strengthen Opinium’s service offer further and help establish the business as a leading supplier within the digital space.”

The firm will be hoping to make a name for itself with its voting intention polls for the Daily Express newspaper, which it is carrying out in the run-up to the UK general election on 6 May.
