GroupM buys The Exchange Lab

UK — WPP-owned media company GroupM has acquired programmatic marketing firm The Exchange Lab for an undisclosed amount.

The Exchange Lab developed ‘Proteus’, a proprietary technology that enables a view of all programmatic channels and partners. Proteus will be integrated within GroupM’s worldwide consolidated agency services platform, Connect.

Founded in 2007, The Exchange Lab employs around 130 people working in offices in London, New York, Chicago, Singapore and Toronto, serving clients including Virgin Holidays, Volkswagen, A&W, Glasses Direct and Vue Entertainment.

The Exchange Lab’s revenues for the year ended 31 December 2014 were £21.4 million, with gross assets of £11.5m.
