Government’s evaluation advisory panel appointed

UK – Research professionals from Ipsos, IFF Research, Verian and Nest Insight have been appointed to the government’s Evaluation and Trial Advice Panel.

The panel brings together UK evaluation and experimentation specialists on a voluntary basis to offer advice on evaluation methods and implementation to civil servants, local government and What Works Centres.

The panel is coordinated by the Evaluation Task Force, a joint Cabinet Office and HM Treasury unit.

Among those to be appointed to the panel for 2026 are:

  • Joanna Hofman, director of research and evaluation, Ipsos UK
  • Laura Hayward, deputy head of evaluation, Ipsos UK
  • Peter Welsh, director, government and society, Ipsos UK
  • Andy Fugard, director, IFF Research
  • Alex Hurrell, head of evaluation, Verian
  • Natalie Gold, head of trials and senior director, Verian
  • Peter Matthews, senior director, Verian
  • Guillermo Rodriguez, associate director, research and innovation, Nest Insight

A term on the panel lasts for two years, with potential to extend for a further year.

Since 2015, the service has provided advice on evaluation to around 230 government programmes across 25 organisations.
