Facebook rolls out video ad tool for emerging markets

US — Facebook has launched slideshow, a video ad feature designed to overcome slow connectivity speeds in emerging markets.

According to the announcement on the company’s blog, slideshow is a lightweight video ad created from a series of still images. Advertisers choose from three to seven still images and choose a slideshow length of between five and 15 seconds. Because of its smaller file size, it allows people on basic devices and with poor connectivity to access ads.

The tool is rolling out to Power Editor and Ads Manager over the coming weeks.
