Dail (pictured) has worked with IRI since 2012 in his capacity as a senior advisor at New Mountain Capital (NMC), an investor in the company. He was chairman and chief executive at JDA Software from 2014 to 2017, and has previously held roles at Aon Corporation, McKinsey & Co, Marks and Spencer and JP Morgan.

In his new role, Dail will lead and support IRI’s commercial efforts in the US and internationally. He will also join the board of directors.

Piyush Chaudhari, president of the Americas and Strategy, is leaving the business to become chief executive at Sgsco.

Andrew Appel, president and chief executive officer of IRI, said: “Bal is an exceptional leader with a distinguished reputation and deep experience in the retail and technology sectors. His familiarity with the CPG and retail market, our business (he previously served on IRI’s board of directors), and portfolio of solutions will enable him to hit the ground running, and his years of global operational expertise at the executive level will help IRI better serve our clients and deliver growth around the world.”

Appel added: “We thank Piyush for his wisdom, vision and contributions. He’s been instrumental in helping bring IRI’s client strategy to life, and we wish him all the best as he embarks on his next chapter.”
