US— ComScore has seen an increase in fourth quarter and full-year revenue but rising costs, including litigation charges, have left it with a net loss of $15.8m for 2011.
Fourth quarter sales were up 22% to $62.6m, and full-year revenue up 33% to $232.4m. Costs associated with the patent dispute between ComScore and rival web measurement firm Nielsen were pegged at $16.5m.
The case, which centred on online measurement patents, was settled in December with ComScore acquiring four of Nielsen’s families of patents and Nielsen acquiring $19m-worth of ComScore stock. Nielsen retained a licence to the patents it sold ComScore and it was also granted a licence to some of the patents ComScore already owns.
