Clarivate to sell MarkMonitor brand protection business to OpSec Security

UK & US – Security firm OpSec Security has agreed to acquire the MarkMonitor brand protection, anti-piracy and anti-fraud business from analytics company Clarivate Analytics.

OpSec Security provides physical security technologies, supply chain track and trace, and online and e-commerce monitoring and analysis.

Clarivate offers subscription services focused on scientific and academic research, life sciences, patent research and intelligence, industry standards and intellectual property management.

Clarivate will retain the MarkMonitor domain management business. 

Richard Cremona, chief executive, OpSec Security, said: “Integrating MarkMonitor’s industry leading online brand protection programme into OpSec’s solution portfolio expands and strengthens our commitment to helping brands combat the rising problems of piracy, fraud, counterfeiting and diversion for both the offline and online world.”

Jerre Stead, executive chairman and chief executive, Clarivate Analytics, added: “Under OpSec’s new ownership and its proven commitment to innovation, we are confident that the MarkMonitor brand protection business will flourish.”

The terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to complete by the end of 2019.
