THE NETHERLANDS – Following the announcement of the departure of Esomar chief executive Parves Khan, the association has confirmed that Joaquim Bretcha will remain as director general until September 2024.
A former president of Esomar, Bretcha was named as interim director general in March.
Current chief executive Parves Khan is leaving Esomar next month (June).
Following the announcement, the Esomar council asked Bretcha to extend his current contract until September 2024, “to enable continuity in the short term and to enable a re-envisioning of Esomar and its role beyond the short term”.
This review, which will be jointly led by Bretcha and the council, includes a governance review, a review of the strategy and value proposition of Esomar, and a move to work with an increased range of partners.
It is unclear whether Esomar will look to appoint a new chief executive.
Ray Poynter, president, Esomar, said in a statement: “Joaquim is a past president of Esomar and has been our interim director for the last few months, so he is an excellent position to guide us over the coming year.
“From my perspective, I am delighted that we have Joaquim with us for this next stage of Esomar’s journey, he has an extensive experience of Esomar and is already well known by Esomar members, the staff and the wider insights community.”
