BigChampagne scoops Universal Music analysis task

New business North America

US— Music measurement firm BigChampagne has been contracted by Universal Music Group (UMG) to track online listening and song downloading habits across social networks and music sites.

The long-term deal tasks BigChampagne with providing analysis of songs and listening patterns in charge of monitoring for UMG’s family of record labels.

Jim Urie (pictured), president and CEO of Universal Media Group Distribution, said: “It’s important to utilise the best research tools available, especially when it comes to the proliferation of music discovery and consumption on the web.

“With the addition of BigChampagne, we provide a comprehensive view of the marketplace, from the radio, online and retail perspectives, all of which result in more opportunities for our artists and labels.”
