BBC Sport and Warner Bros report record Winter Olympic Games audiences

Across the Winter Olympics 2026, there were 83m streams and over 44m total streamed hours online via BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport app, with 26.3 million viewers watching the TV coverage.
The figures for this year mark an overall increase in viewership for the sports broadcaster compared with previous Winter Olympic Games – the Beijing event in 2022 had 31.4m streams and a TV audience of 26 million.
During the Games, BBC Sport recorded its highest-performing digital week for individual accounts in two years, with 12.23m accounts consuming digital content across BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds and the BBC Sport website and app – the biggest weekly digital account audience since the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
Warner Bros Discovery also reported its best-ever Winter Olympics Games streaming record, with streaming across HBO Max and discovery+ seeing three times more viewers ( 234%) compared with Beijing in 2022.
WBD also recorded a 103% increase in total hours viewed (compared with the Beijing event).
