UK — The BBC has reportedly held talks with rivals, including ITV and NBC Universal, about launching a Netflix-style video streaming service.
According to a story on the Guardian website, the service would likely focus on offering older, archived TV content, though there would be a certain number of original commissions. Both the BBC and ITV already offer online access to content, but it expires after a period of 30 days.
The story claims that multiple sources have described the plan as being in an early stage of exploration and evaluation. Both broadcasters declined to comment.
