Arbitron and Nielsen veteran joins Umbel as CRO

US— Audience research specialist Thomas Evans, formerly of Arbitron and Nielsen, has joined digital measurement firm Umbel.

Evans takes up the role of chief research officer at the company which is looking to work with brands and publishers to map their “digital genome” through analysis of their online and social media audience, revealing their likes, demographics and sociographic profiles.

Alongside Nielsen and Arbitron, Evans has also worked in research roles at ESPN, Westwood One and ABC.

His appointment follows that of CEO Paul Krasiniski, also formerly of Arbitron, and director of agency solutions Amy Bickers, ex-Publicis Starcom.

In April, Umbel received $3.7m in venture capital financing.
