Acrobat Research to cut jobs at Calais call centre

US— Canadian data collection firm Acrobat Research is to cut an undisclosed number of jobs at its call centre in Calais, Maine.

The firm’s president Tim Sinke told Research that the centre will be temporarily closed due to a lack of business. “We’ll reopen in a month,” he said, “but not with everyone.”

Sinke said that the centre currently employs 35 workers, but would not give details on how many staff would lose their jobs.

Acrobat, which offers telephone and online data collections services, operates another two call centres in Canada at Greenwood and Capreol as well as an office in Kenya. The Calais call centre opened its doors in 2008.
