SINGAPORE – Management consultancy Accenture is establishing an ‘AI refinery engineering hub’ in Singapore to increase AI-based innovation in the region.
The hub, supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), will offer programmes that aim to develop local talent and equip enterprises with AI skills and knowledge.
It will conduct applied research in industries including healthcare, financial services and sustainability, bringing together Accenture’s AI specialists with researchers in the regional AI ecosystem in areas including large language models (LLM) technology architecture, AI infrastructure architecture, AI and machine learning computational science, and responsible AI.
An extension of Accenture’s Center for Advanced AI in Singapore, the company has launched the hub as part of its global $3bn investment in AI, announced last year.
Accenture said the engineering hub would offer “a collaborative environment”, with generative AI services for research, development and deployment of custom models to help organisations in areas including improving business processes and creating new products.
Ramine Tinati, managing director and Apac lead for Accenture Center for Advanced AI, said: “Accenture’s AI Refinery Engineering Hub will provide pathways for enterprises to make breakthroughs in the application of AI and scale it responsibly.”
Junie Fo, vice-president, commercial and professional services, EDB, said the hub would “serve as a valuable platform for our AI talent to embark on impactful applied research”, adding: “We look forward to partnerships between the Lab and our local ecosystem in creating and deploying custom AI solutions that can address global challenges and opportunities.”
