‘Check out’ new business recommendation app from Bizzy

US— Retailers and restaurateurs might want to check out a new smartphone app from Bizzy which asks users to ‘check out’ from every place they visit and register their feelings about the business.

Sentiment is scored simply using a smiley face scale of ‘happy’, ‘meh’ or ‘sad’, and these responses are used to generate recommendations of other places a user might like to shop, eat or drink.

The company behind the app pitches their offer as a companion to the ‘check in’ apps developed by Foursquare and Gowolla. “We think check in apps are awesome for announcing where you are when you arrive,” Bizzy says. “We just think checking out is a great way to say how it went.”

Businesses can sign up to create their own profiles on the network to push offers at customers, but it’s not clear whether aggregated sentiment and user data is fed back to participating companies or ever will be. For now the company’s focus is on the consumer end. Bizzy is online here.
