Walmart promotes Davis to global insights role

US— Retail giant Walmart has appointed Cindy Davis as vice president of global consumer insights, moving her across from its Sam’s Club discount online shopping site.

Davis (pictured) joined Sam’s Club in late 2007 as senior vice president of membership and marketing, before being named executive vice president of e-commerce in 2008.

Before starting at Sam’s Club she worked for agencies BBD, Tracy-Locke and Rapp Collins Worldwide and clients including Pizza Hut, Promus Hotels (now Hilton), Starwood and Harrah’s Entertainment.

In her new role she is responsible for leading a newly created global customer insights team for the retailer.

Brian Cornell, president and CEO of Sam’s Club, who Davis will still report to, said: “Cindy is uniquely suited to lead the development of our new world-class global customer insights team for Walmart. She is a leader that understands the importance of putting the customer at the centre of everything we do, and the power insights have on business decision making.”

Her replacement at Sam’s Club has yet to be named.
