UK – Fieldwork and data collection agency Populus Data Solutions has created a virtual reality online panel called PopulusLive VR.

Members of the panel have been recruited through the PopulusLive panel and given headsets. It means Populus Data Solutions can now include virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and 360 degree video content as part of its online surveys.

The agency has already worked with visual technology partner Gorilla in the Room on a quantitative study among 400 online respondents testing concepts as part of an O2 retail environment evaluation.

Patrick Diamond, managing director of Populus Data Solutions, said: “Innovation has always been a key part of the business and this puts the firm at the cutting edge of new technologies being included in the research process. By incorporating virtual reality within an online survey, we can put respondents into an immersive environment that is likely to give a better prediction of their real world behaviour.”
