Nuisance call complaints rise

UK — The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) received 180,188 complaints about nuisance calls and texts last year, an increase of 11.4% on the previous year.

A total of 14,268 data protection concerns were received by the privacy watchdog according to its latest report.

As the report was published Information Commissioner Christopher Graham (pictured) pointed to developments in the data protection and privacy laws.

“Just look at the EU Court of Justice ruling on Google search results, a case that could never have been envisaged when the data protection law was established. We work to demystify some of this legislation, making clear that data protection isn’t to be seen as a hassle or a duck-out, but a fundamental right,” he said.
