New CEO at The Young Foundation

UK – Community research and social innovation not-for-profit The Young Foundation has named Dr Susan Griffiths as chief executive, starting in March 2026.

Griffiths (pictured) joins The Young Foundation from international development consultancy and research body Social Development Direct, where she has been managing director since 2020.

Prior to joining Social Development Direct, Griffiths was executive director at political development consultancy Global Partners Governance.

Griffiths is also a non-executive director at the Global Partners Governance Foundation and an independent member of the Overseas and International Honours Committee, and was previously an independent member of the Parliamentary and Political Service Honours Committee. 

The Young Foundation was founded by social researcher Michael Young in 1953, and focuses on community-led innovation, including research with communities across the UK, and runs societal change evidence centre the Institute for Community Studies.  

Kersten England, chair of The Young Foundation, said: “Sue brings a wealth of experience from her background leading international and UK-based research and consultancy organisations focused on tackling inequalities and supporting institutions to drive societal change.

“The Young Foundation’s board of trustees and all of its colleagues look forward to working with Sue to deliver our passion for the creation of a fairer society through the radical power of participation.” 

Griffiths added: “I look forward to working with my new colleagues to communicate the organisation’s distinct capabilities and accelerate our positive impact on the most crucial environmental, economic and social issues of our time.”
