UK – The Market Research Society (MRS) is launching a network for LGBTQ+ talent in the research sector, #MRSpride, with an inaugural event taking place in May.

The initiative aims to provide a platform for LGBTQ+ consumer insight and methodological best practice, bring together community members and inspire junior researchers.

The launch event on 30 May, sponsored by YouGov and hosted by IPG Mediabrands, will feature contributions from research and media industry figures including Joshua Graff, vice-president of LinkedIn EMEA and LATAM; Jan Gooding, chair of Stonewall and president of MRS; and Alison Camps, deputy chairman of Quadrangle and co-chair of Pride in London.

Jane Frost, chief executive, MRS, said: "Our 2017 diversity and inclusion report revealed that 55% of those identifying as gay, lesbian or bisexual said they had felt ‘Negatively Discriminated’ against in their current company because of their sexual orientation and 64% thought their company was not doing enough to ‘accommodate and support’ people of all sexual orientations.

"As part of our broader work on inclusion in the sector I’m delighted to see a member-led initiative like #MRSpride which can help address some of these issues – particularly by giving a platform to role models for young LGBTQ+ research talent."

Michael Brown, chair of #MRSpride and head of insight, UM, said: "The prospect of bringing together a large group of LGBTQ+ community members, and our all-important allies, is an exciting and important one."

The event will be open to MRS members, Company Partners and non-members. More information and a link to register interest can be found here
