UK – A specialist mentoring scheme for the research sector has been started by the Market Research Society to help equip market researchers for the combination of skills required today.
The scheme has been launched in recognition of the increased competencies required by researchers – from data analysis to storytelling and innovation skills – as identified by PwC in its The Business of Evidence 2016 report.
The mentoring relationship will allow research professionals to review their approaches, optimise their thinking and integrate analytical and creative approaches.
Following a successful mentoring pilot earlier in the year, the scheme has already attracted more than 100 senior professionals to become mentors. Today, MRS invites potential mentees to apply to the scheme.
Mentors are senior professionals holding the advanced professional membership grades of either Certified Member or Fellow. Mentoring is also recognised within the MRS CPD Programme. The scheme is only available for MRS members.
Jane Frost, CEO of the MRS, said: “Mentoring provides an important tool in the MRS’ suite of CPD, training, qualifications, as well as on and offline learning. The pilot earlier this year demonstrated just how effective mentoring relationships are in enabling both effective personal and professional growth. What is also heartening is that mentors learn from the experience as well.”
