Covid-19 News UK

UK – The Market Research Benevolent Association (MRBA) has issued a reminder to the industry of the aid it can offer during the Covid-19 pandemic and urged research organisations to make staff aware.

The charity, which offers financial support and advice to market researchers, may be able to offer support to researchers affected by loss of work as a result of the outbreak.

“Our industry contains a relatively high proportion of casual workers, both face to face and telephone interviewers, who will suffer financially if they cannot work. For people who get into severe financial hardship the MRBA may be able to offer some assistance,” the charity said in an email.

The MRBA is unable to “top up lost earnings”, but will focus on helping those most in need, saying: “Where there is, for example, a threat of eviction due to the current situation then we may be able to help.”

Researchers will need to have worked in the industry for at least two years to be eligible for assistance. Any support will be subject to confirmation from employers as the charity will not always be able to carry out home visits.

The MRBA has asked those seeking support to email info@mrba.org.uk to request an application form. More information is available on the MRBA website.
