The ‘Big Qual’ platform is method-agnostic and brings together transcription, translation, image recognition, compression, and flexible text mining.

It offers users the option to link participants across different types of content, including connecting interactions in a focus group to survey responses. The service is white-labelled and can be served from a researcher’s web address, using their own branding.

‘Big Qual’ has launched in beta, ahead of wider release planned for the second quarter of 2022.

Ryan Howard, founder of Malliavin, said: “Friends of mine were getting left behind by qualitative platforms. They are just one-person-bands and can’t afford to be locked into subscriptions. They also can’t tie themselves to the same set of tools for every project. There is space right now for platforms that understand this, and don’t care how data is collected.”
