Kantar Media to replace GfK on Romanian TV ratings contract

Europe New business

ROMANIA— Kantar Media has won a four-year contract to produce TV ratings for the Romanian Association for Audience Measurement (ARMA), taking over from GfK Romania in 2012.

GfK’s current system has been in place since 2008. From next year Kantar Media will operate a panel of 1,200 Peoplemeter-equipped homes, collecting minute by minute data on their TV viewing habits.

Audio matching is used to identify which channels are being watched, and the technology also allows time-shifted viewing to be measured.

Keld Nielsen (pictured), global business development director, said: “Our ability to provide holistic viewing data across multiple devices gives broadcasters and advertisers the confidence that they will continue to receive accurate insight into how people are watching television both now and in the future.”

  • Kantar Media also announced today the appointment of Giselle Bodie as chief operations officer for its media monitoring and evaluations business in Europe. One of her main tasks will be overseeing the rollout of the Cymfony suite of traditional and social media monitoring products in the region. Based in London, Bodie reports to European CEO Jean-Michel Portail. She is a former MD of Cision and Echo Research.
