US — Picture social media site Instagram has announced it is introducing a carousel ads as a way for brands to share more images with followers.
In a blog on its site the social media company said “since we began offering a way for advertisers to reach people on Instagram in 2013, we’ve heard from marketers that they want to tell sequenced stories in beautiful, compelling ways that lead to meaningful results for their businesses.”
It said that feedback from its community showed people were interested in learning more about brands and products after seeing a sponsored photo or video.
The resulting change in design has been the introduction of carousel ads so people can swipe through more images.
“Carousel ads bring the potential of multi-page print campaigns to mobile phones – with the added benefit of taking people to a website to learn more,” said the post.
There were no details of advertisers using the new format.
