Indian smartphone use probed by Nielsen and Informate

INDIA— Nielsen is working with mobile meter developer Informate Mobile Intelligence on a new programme of research into consumer use of smartphones.

Informate uses an on-device software meter that is download by members of its panel.

First results from the collaboration – known as Nielsen Informate Mobile Insights – reports that the average Indian smartphone user spends 2.5 hours a day on their phone, with 72% of that time spent on activities such as gaming, entertainment, apps and internet content.

Only 28% of time is spent making voice calls and text messaging.
