UK— Illuminas has won a year-long contract to provide research in support of trials of electric vehicles organised by EDF Energy in partnership with Mercedes Benz and the Technology Strategy Board.
Sixty homes across London and the south-east of England have been recruited for the trial, and each will be given a Smart electric car and have a charging point installed in their home for 12 months from October.
Smart electric meters will be fitted to monitor charging usage but Illuminas will also be conducting research with a view to understanding charging use over time, both in home and out of home. Trial participants will also be brought together “to share experiences and learnings”, the company said.
