HP Vertica and Capgemini join for big data challenge

Data analytics North America

US — Hewlett Packard’s real-time analytics platform, Vertica, is to partner with IT consultancy Capgemini to develop big data services.

As part of the service, Capgemini will assess the customer’s existing analytics infrastructure and recommend where they would benefit from faster queries, reduced costs and real-time analytics. The firms say that sample results using big data show analytics processes going from hours to minutes, and minutes to seconds.

Capgemini will launch the service on the HP Vertica analytics platform. The aim of the solution is to enable customers to make the most of their big data and develop an overall view of their customers and their organisational needs. It will combine web interactions and social sentiment with historic transactions and help to continually analyse system data for maintenance and repair.

Colin Mahony, senior vice president and general manager, Vertica, HP, said: “Organisations struggle with turning massive amounts of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data into business insights, cost effectively and in near real time. We’re working with Capgemini to give our joint customers the ability to leverage big data insights into innovative products, services and offers that drive competitive advantage.”

Scott Schlesinger, vice president and head of business information management, Capgemini North America, added: “By partnering with HP Vertica, our customers can combine all of their available data sources and analyse that data over larger time periods, all with very fast response times, allowing them to get a clear picture of what’s happening in their business right now.”
