US— The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has approved the purchase of two SDI businesses by InVentiv – the sale of which was required to resolve competition concerns arising from SDI’s merger with IMS Health.
InVentiv is buying SDI’s syndicated promotional and medical audit businesses and these will become part of Campbell Alliance, an InVentiv-owned management consulting firm.
IMS acquired SDI last year. According to the FTC, SDI and IMS would together have controlled 98% of the market for promotional audits and 100% for medical audits.
