US – Facebook has unveiled a number of updates to its video service, including an app that allows users to watch videos from the site on a TV.
According to the announcement, Facebook has introduced sound to videos featuring in users’ news feeds (it was previously necessary to click on a video to hear sound); has made improvements to vertical video; and made it possible to watch a Facebook video while scrolling through content.
The final update, the video app for TV, allows Facebook users to watch videos from the platform on their TV, including videos shared by friends or pages they follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on interests.
The app also allows viewing of saved videos, as well as videos that the user has watched, shared or uploaded.
'Our video app for TV is a new way to enjoy Facebook videos on a bigger screen,’ the announcement said. ‘Last year we rolled out the ability for you to stream videos from Facebook to your TV, and today’s announcement expands this capability.'
