US – Dropbox has introduced a tool to allow users to import photos and videos from Facebook.

The tool will enable people to transfer their entire Facebook video and photo libraries to Dropbox once a user’s accounts on the two services are connected.

All files will be private by default, but will allow users to share them if desired. All images and videos will be grouped by album on Dropbox.

The integration with Dropbox is part of Facebook’s Data Transfer Project, which allows users to transfer photos and videos directly from their Facebook libraries to other platforms.

Facebook already has a similar agreement in place with Google Photos.

Jamie Young Perlman, vice-president of business development at Dropbox, said: “People no longer accept being locked into one service or platform, and want the freedom to use the tools they love.

“We’ll continue to look for ways to seamlessly integrate with best-in-breed products.”
