Makki (pictured) was previously co-founder and CTO of online shopping start-up Shopa.

He will be based in Barcelona where the company plans to open a European hub to ensure the company can access world leading talent following Brexit.

Cledara raised a pre-seed round from investors Anthemis and Chris Adelsbach

Cristina Vila, founder and CEO of Cledara, said: “Building a world class product demands a world class team and so we’re delighted that Zi has joined. Zi brings massive experience of leading and scaling technology at fast growing start-ups which is absolutely invaluable.”

Makki added: “Cledara is an innovative start-up with massive potential and a very experienced product-focused team. It is solving a real problem that I have had personally at every-single-company I have worked at. I have been following Cledara closely for months now, and I'm excited to join.”
