Audience measurement revenue rises at Rentrak

Financials North America

US— Rentrak’s consolidated revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2012 fell thanks to a decline in its home entertainment services division, but the firm’s media information business posted a 13% increase in sales.

Advanced media information (AMI) – which includes the TV, Box Office and On Demand Essentials audience measurement tools – hit $9m in revenue for the three months ending 30 June, while consolidated revenue was $22.4m, compared to $24.6m a year ago.

CEO Bill Livek said: “Our census-like media measurement services provide a critical tool for advertising, TV and entertainment industry participants, and I am proud that our advanced media group now accounts for 40% of our revenues, up from 12% about two years ago when I joined the company.

“During the quarter, new television stations, networks and ad agencies clients began utilising our measurement platform, while we successfully built a strong pipeline of new clients… We are developing a strong syndicated and recurring revenue business which should provide increasing value to shareholders.”
