San Francisco-based Apptimize conducts A/B testing across various environments including native mobile, web, mobile web and over-the-top (OTT). The company’s customers include The Wall Street Journal and Glassdoor.

Through the acquisition, Airship (formerly Urban Airship) adds the Apptimize testing technology to its platform, which is used by companies including Adidas, Asos, Sky and Vodafone to send mobile notifications across channels.

Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Airship’s services also include mobile analytics and customer intelligence. It raised $25m in Series F funding in 2018.

The company will also continue to sell and support Apptimize as a standalone platform.

Brett Caine, chief executive and president, Airship, said: “By combining Apptimize mobile app and web testing with Airship’s deep insight into customer engagement across channels, marketers and developers can focus innovation on the most critical areas while creating seamless end-to-end experiences.”
