The Market Research Society launched the Research Heroes programme to celebrate the sector’s unsung heroes. Melanie Wiles has joined the cadre of Research Heroes 2023.
A couple of decades into her research career, Mel’s work has included researching diamonds in Mexico, leading an international department in Madrid, running her own business and now helping shape the digital offering at Bulbshare.
Melanie was nominated because "in her new role as co-team lead, she has taken to it with aplomb, being a shoulder to cry on for the research team and helping ease the load when projects keep coming.
What is the biggest challenge you have faced during your career?
Challenges and opportunities go hand-in-hand. Embracing a new culture and language while working in Madrid, setting up a business, and now immersing myself in the digital world, have presented both challenges and huge rewards.
What will be the next big trend or development in the research industry, and why?
I’m predicting an ongoing trend towards more agile and iterative research as businesses need a constant finger on the consumer pulse.
Who inspires you as a researcher?
There are too many to count…but a big shout out to our Bulbshare founder for his vision, and to fellow colleagues in front of and behind the scenes, who make the magic of research happen.
