Megan Evans, Insight Manager, Reach PLC

Megan is an Insight Manager at Reach Plc and has worked in the industry for the last six years. At Reach she manages the advertising campaign effectiveness studies to measure how campaigns have performed across Reach brands. She loves finding the story in data and working towards better solutions for clients.

Megan was nominated because "without her continuous support and guidance, the team would not have been able to learn and develop in the manner it has over the past year."

What is the biggest challenge you have faced during your career?

One of the biggest challenges I have faced in my career is managing a team through a great deal of change, whilst being newly promoted to manager level. It meant not only taking on new responsibilities and managing new research projects, but also looking after the development and wellbeing of all the members of my team, making sure they felt supported as well as ensuring they were able to stretch and grow.

What will be the next big trend or development in the research industry, and why?

One trend in the market research industry which I feel is very topical at the moment, is the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The industry is always adapting to new technologies, and I believe AI will enhance data collection, quality and accuracy and allow for faster and more efficient data analysis. However, I do believe in the importance of human interaction when it comes to data collection such as qualitative interviewing, so the industry needs to work to retain the balance.

Who inspires you as a researcher?

I feel very lucky in my career to have worked with some amazing researchers who I have learned so much from and have shaped the person I am today. One in particular is Andrew Tenzer, who I worked with at Reach. He has produced some ground-breaking and inspiring thought leadership pieces which have challenged the media industry to think and behave differently. Under his leadership, I progressed from a graduate just starting out in my career, to leading multiple brand trackers, thought-leadership pieces and bespoke research studies. I am very grateful for his guidance, support and wisdom!
